The Bratislava Wind Octet

Has been well-known for its artistic activities since 1972 and belongs to one of the few wind ensembles of its kind in Slovakia.
It was established by the clarinetist, Justus Pavlík, who was also the leader of the ensemble. For many years the octet performed under the name Bratislava Chamber Harmony and during its long existence many leading musicians formed part of it. At present, the position of French horn is shared by two players, Peter Sivanič and Ján Budzák, the Artistic Leader.
The rich and colourful repertoire of the ensemble mostly consists of works from the late Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, and partly by Contemporary works. A considerable part of the repertoire is created by composers who were born, or worked, in Bratislava.
The result of untiring work is the number of concerts at home and abroad (Austria, Germany, Spain, The Near East etc.).
The Bratislava Wind Octet has premiered the works of numerous contemporary composers and has made various recordings for the Slovak Television and Slovak Radio. In the period between 1998-2003 the ensemble recorded three CD's.
The ensemble has been performing in its present from since 1998 and all members belong to leading Bratislava symphony orchestras: The Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak Radio Orchestra and Slovak National Theatre.
